Absolsutely. If we don't do it, no one will do it for you.

Talked with a German HarperCollins bestseller and she said the same. They help you with the distribution, if you're a top writer they market you in the prelaunch and launch preiod that's it.

In addition, you get the biggest deals if you have a huge social media following. They somehow "buy" it.

I love the active ask for feedback and comments ‘it’s enough to keep me going’. We often think we are alone and everyone else is successful but everyone is on their own path and everyone thrives when they get acknowledged and to be given a tap on the shoulder. Keep going Kristina and Veronica, really loved the story today.

Hi Marlies!

I wrote a story about Ayo from Medium and it's about the imposter writers.

It's about comparisionitis.

You might see Veronica as the accomplished writers but you also have to see her failures, struggles, rejection and everything that made her who she is today.

Thank you, Marlies!

As a triathlete, I know how important the high-fives and the taps on the shoulder are. Those little motivational tokens keep us going and make us feel we are not alone.

Cheers

Glenda, well, hello!

Sure. I found her a few months back and was happy to chat and am now closer connected to Veronica.

We'll also have a live sessio in two weeks to ask questions and learn more about how to self-publish your first book

Her story is indeed instructive. She lives out what she wrote about--or rather, wrote about what she lives out. Kudos to her for being an inspiration. Thanks to you for sharing also. I subscribed to your YouTube channel already (aside being your Substack subscriber).

haha, very good! Not sure, this video interview isn't performing as well as the others.

It's always sad to see this if you put so much heart, sweat and love into creating an interview.

So man thanks for your feedback and LOVE!!

Awesome story about Veronica‘s writing success - it shows also how a sell curated network on LinkedIn can help as a writer while most only concentrate on FB/IG.

Hi Gunnar, a network is crucial.

I hear from someone from HarperCollins that they somehow also "buy" the network.

Meaning you build an audience and self publish multiple books.

Then you go to a publishing house and say 👋.

Are you also thinking about writing a book?

I do. Several drafts here. 😆 Would need to focus more on writing these

Fully with you, Kristina - based on that principle you can still walk in any regular book store in Germany to find 3-5 of my books from major publishers…

I'll look for your books. Quick question. Do they still do marketing for you and is 10% on writing on every writing also a thing in your contract?

Expand full comment

Those books are travel guide books from Polyglott, Bruckmann and Vista Point. It‘s more labour contract work. People buy the books as they like the series and need one for a concrete destination. And the publishers don‘t care if the books became Amazon Bestsellers…
